The Duxbury boys’ swim team wrapped up its regular-season schedule with a 90-65 victory over Silver Lake, as several underclassmen showed their swimming prowess by winning five individual events and contributing on relays. Barry Su led the Dragons by taking two firsts. The freshman sprinted to a win in the 50- yard freestyle (25.91), and raced a season-low 55.28, touching out sophomores Drew Husted and Ben White in the 100-yard freestyle.
ON THE FLY: Duxbury’s Hunter Chiasson swims the butterfly leg of the 200-yard medley relay.
Husted (2:25.54) nipped teammates Jon Ng and Jason Lijewski in the 200-yard individual medley, while Crowell (2:08.28) topped Andrew Sommer and Drew Cooper in the 200-yard freestyle. In the 100-yard butterfly, the sophomore sweep continued with Brendan Davidson (1:07.16) besting Ben Potash and Jamie Morris. Ng outlasted Duncan Edgar and Drew Cooper in the 500-yard freestyle endurance race, while Lijewski led a sweep in the 100-yard backstroke. Davidson and Andrew Gilmore were second and third, respectively. {sidebar id=1} Senior co-captain Sommer won the 100-yard breaststroke by a half-pool length (1:10.31), while Doug Rollock and Edgar finished in a virtual tie (1.24.7). It was all Duxbury in the relays, as the 200-yard medley relay team of Ike Fontaine, co-captain Devin George, Ng and Morris combined to take the top spot, touching out Lijewski, Edgar, Davidson and White. Hunter Chiasson, Husted, George and Su won the 200-yard freestyle relay in a season-low sprint (1:43.13). Ng, George, Pat Sullivan and Davidson won the final event in 4:17.93. “We have raced hard all season,” said Coach Jay Craft. “ I think we’ll be very prepared for the championship meets in the next few weeks”.{sidebar id=6} |
