The boats may be stored for the winter, but a lot has been happening at
the Duxbury Bay Maritime School this winter. Back in September, Ann
Mullins retired from her position as DBMS director of development and
Georgia Cosgrove, who recently moved to Duxbury from Wheaton, Illinois,
took over her post.
The boats may be stored for the winter, but a lot has been happening at the Duxbury Bay Maritime School this winter. Back in September, Ann Mullins retired from her position as DBMS director of development and Georgia Cosgrove, who recently moved to Duxbury from Wheaton, Illinois, took over her post. Then in January, Ned Lawson retired after manning the DBMS helm for nearly a decade as executive director and handed the tiller to Chuck Leonard. Chuck is a long time Duxbury resident with a passion for all types of recreation on Duxbury Bay. As a lifelong sailor and former multiple business owner, he looks forward to “keeping things fun and running a tight ship.”
DBMS staff members from left to right: Matt Pavini, Kristen McCarthy, Georgia Cosgrove, Betts Murray and Executive Director Chuck Leonard.
There have also been some program staff changes. Matt Pavini has been named full-time ACCESSAIL Director. He formerly managed both ACCESSAIL, DBMS’s award-winning program for sailors with mental and physical disabilities, and the school’s adult sailing programs. Since receiving the US Sailing Community Sailing Council’s “Outstanding Program for Disabled Sailors” award in 2006, ACCESSAIL has grown steadily. It is the only program of its kind between Boston and Newport, RI, and is expected to expand further when construction of the handicap accessible Ellison Campus multi-purpose building is completed in the summer of 2009. {sidebar id=4}
