| Kingfish Swimming to expand programs |

Kingfish Swimming, based in Duxbury and Kingston, is launching a new recreational arm of its swim team starting this fall. After years of serving as a United States Swimming team, Kingfish has decided to expand its program offerings to account for the growing level of interest in swimming on the South Shore. “We have seen a significant increase in the number of kids wanting to improve stroke technique and skill ability, without necessarily wanting to commit to competing on a higher level. This new division of our team will accommodate more kids in surrounding communities who want to make swimming a part of their lives,” said Kingfish Head Coach Jay Craft. “We really just want more kids swimming regularly. It’s a sport you can continue throughout your whole life.” Craft has coached swimming on the South Shore for more than 20 years and was a 1992 Olympic Trials qualifier and All-American. The new recreational team will be open to children of all ability levels aged 6 - 17 and will be based at the Percy Walker Pool in Duxbury. Participants will be able to swim anywhere from one to four times per week, with a focus on developing good stroke technique and improving general fitness. Tryouts for all levels on the Kingfish Swimming team will take place at the Kingsbury Club pool and the Percy Walker Pool on Tuesday, Sept. 4 and at both locations on Thursday, Sept. 6 from 4 - 4:30 p.m. Swimmers need attend only one of the days at one of the locations. For more information, please contact Jay Craft at 617-797-8653 or jcraft@kingfishswimming.com. You may also visit the Kingfish website at kingfishswimming.com. |
