Riley Crane tossed a one hitter as the Duxbury Junior Legion team beat Pembroke in a District 10 league game on opening day. Crane struck out 17 as Duxbury won 5-1. Matt Murphy and Jack Speranzini led the offense with two hits apiece. Duxbury Jr. Legion bats erupt – Duxbury bats got hot as the team beat Hanover on June 18 in a District 10 game 14-1. Riley Crane led the team with four hits, Chris Moretti had three, while Kevin O’Rourke and Colin McGillvray had two apiece. Jake Foote, Chris O’Connor and Matt Murphy shared the pitching duties. Duxbury Jr. Legion beat Pembroke in a District 10 game 11-1 on June 26 behind the pitching of Jake Foote. Jake tossed four innings of one hit ball. Kevin O’Rourke paced the offense with a first inning two-run homer. Matt Murphy chipped in with two hits, while the whole team had at least one hit. Duxbury bats exploded as they beat Marshfield 19-2 in a District 10 Jr. Legion game on June 29 at Chandler Field. Kevin O’Rourke’s pitching gave up two hits while striking out five. The offense pounded out 15 hits, led by Riley Crane with four, Mike Cardelle, Jack Speranzini and Drew Ricciardi each had two apiece in a balanced offensive attack. The Duxbury Junior American Legion baseball team went nine innings against Marshfield in an exciting District 10 game Thursday night. Jake Reagan executed a squeeze play with one out in the bottom of the ninth to score Jake Foote with the winning run! Foote led off the ninth with a walk, stole second, was sacrificed to third by Mike Cardelle and then scored on the squeeze play. Matt Saia led Duxbury with three hits, Cardelle and Foote had two apiece. Riley Crane and Jake Foote pitched for Duxbury. The next home game for the team is July 12; 5:45 p.m. start time at Chandler against Abington in a game that will be sure to have playoff implications. Come on out and support the team. |
