The DBMS crew team had a strong showing at the Lowell Invitational Regatta recently. Rowing on the Merrimac River, the Varsity Boys A boat coached by Kristen McCarthy, finished second in its class, receiving a Silver medal. Coxswain Caroline Hickey directed the boys among 24 boats that competed in four heats, qualifying them for the semifinals where they finished second overall among 12 boats. In the finals on Sunday afternoon, Hickey, Chris Scavangelli, Davis Muller, Marshall Lougee and Kyle Archambault crossed the finish line with a very close second-place finish. The Boys Varsity B boat finished their heat on Saturday with a bronze medal. The Girls Novice 8-man B boat placed second among 18 boats in three heats, qualifying them for the finals on Sunday where they came in fifth. The Boys Novice 8-man boat had the fastest time among all competing boats in their class and qualified for the semifinals where they finished second.
