Sophomore Kelly Dame won her second straight match to lead the Lady Dragons to a 5-0 win over Quincy last Tuesday in Duxbury. The Lady Dragons’ No. 1 singles player defeated Cattien Tran,  6-1/6-2, while junior Meghan O’Neal took out Rachel Smith at No. 2 singles, 6-2/6-4.

Senior Nicole Hanrahan had an easy time with Christine Tran in the first set, 6-0, but the President’s third singles player rallied for a 6-4 second set win before falling in the third set, 2-6. Sophomore Brooke McCarthy and senior Caroline Phinney had to go three sets before defeating Quincy’s Fanny Zhoo and Stephanie La, 6-3/6-7/6-3, at No. 1 doubles, while senior Anna McGeady teamed up with freshman Sarah Palfrey at No. 2 doubles for a 6-2/6-4 victory.

After an easy win over Quincy, the Lady Dragons traveled to Hingham on Wednesday to take on Notre Dame.

Dame had a rough outing at No. 1 singles, losing to Grace Biciunas, 0-6/0-6, while  O’Neal lost a tough two-set match to Allie Bridgeman, 6-7 (TB 3-7) 4-6. Hanrahan lost her match to Amanda Garrows, 2-6/4-6.

The first doubles pair of McCarthy and Phinney fought back from a first-set loss (1-6) to beat Meg Garrows and her partner in the second set, 6-3, before dropping the third set (2-6) and the match.

The second doubles tandem of McGeady and Palfrey dropped their match to Hannah Pasqualucci and Amanda Hajjar, 0-6/1-6.

It was back to their winning ways on Thursday, as the Lady Dragons completed their third match in three days and came away with a 4-1 win over Silver Lake in Patriot League action.

Dame made quick work of Taylor Grifa, 1-6/1-6, while O’Neal needed to go three sets before knocking off Jeili Murril, 3-6/6-4/6-1.

Freshman Sarah Holbrook filled in admirably for Hanrahan at No. 3 singles and won easily over Olivia Cordingley, 6-2/6-2.

McCarthy and Phinney took care of Sam Crespi and Allison Baeger, 6-2/6-1, at No. 1 doubles, with     McGeady and Palfrey taking three sets to dispose of Abby Haugstad and Elizabeth Galagher, 1-6/ 6-3/6-2

“I have to say they played well,” said Coach Jutta Rossano.  “After having lost the first set they decided they didn’t like the feeling, so they went out and took control. It was awesome.”

The girls return to action on Monday when they travel to Scituate for a 4 p.m. match with the Sailors.
