Senior captain Wilson Powell, along with freshmen Tayler Kent and Vincent Cahill represented Duxbury at the MIAA State Alpine Ski Championships at Wachussett Mountain last week. Thirty-three schools sent their top qualifiers to compete in both slalom and giant slalom races. Powell placed 63rd in the slalom and 100th in the GS in a field of 140 competitors. Cahill, who replaced injured qualifier Tyler Sunderland, placed 98th in the slalom race and 108th place in the giant slalom. Of the 138 female racers, Kent placed 15th in the slalom and 23rd in the giant slalom. Kent was also named as the second alternate on the Massachusetts All-Star team to compete in the United States Ski Associations High School championships; a national event for the top high school racers from the eastern portion of the country.
