Dimatteo named girls’ rowing coach

The Duxbury Bay Maritime School is pleased to announce that Ali Dimatteo has joined the DBMS coaching staff.  After graduating from Duxbury High School in 2007 and spending endless hours on the water at DBMS learning to row, competing for the high school team and working as a summer instructor, Dimatteo moved on to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst to join the Class of ’11. At UMass, she majored in sports psychology and was a member of the Division I women’s crew team.  Dimatteo spent her freshman fall season on the novice team and by the following spring had earned a seat in the first varsity 8+ boat.  Dimatteo kept her seat in the first 8+ throughout her college career and often raced in a double with fellow Duxbury alum, Amanda Doolin.  She was twice named to the Atlantic 10 Second-Team All-Conference Honors.

Since graduation, Dimatteo has been coaching with All-American Rowing, a national masters rowing camp, and last fall coached at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, heading up the women’s novice team. She is also currently employed at MBX Fitness in Norwell as a strength and conditioning coach.

Dimatteo will be coaching the DBMS girls’ varsity high school rowing team this spring. She will coach adult classes and run a summer competitive camp for high school and college level rowers.  DBMS looks forward to having Coach Dimatteo on board again and the girls’ varsity team is looking toward a great spring season starting this March.
