Junior Mark Brust (DHS ’08) had a big week for the Bates College men’s basketball team scoring 24 points on six field goals (including a trio of three-pointers) and 9 of 10 from the free throw line in his team’s 77-60 win over Wesleyan. A week earlier Brust scored 22 points in an 81-60 win over Bowdoin…  Sophomore Caitlin Buckley (DHS ’10) earned a third-place finish in the 50-yard backstroke in Bryant’s 123.5-119.5 win over UMass… Freshman Briana Connolly (DHS ’11) assisted on Sacred Heart’s second goal in a 5-2 loss to Salve Regina last week… Sophomore Patrick O’Neal (BCHS ’10) is a part of two extraordinary communities on the Boston University campus: the B.U. swim team and the Army ROTC program. One of the first things his Army superiors did was design a plan of how he would complete his ROTC requirements around his demanding swimming schedule. O’Neal swims the 200-yard butterfly, the 500-yard freestyle, and the 200-yard freestyle. Next year O’Neal will have to make the definitive choice of signing onto the ROTC program for his final two years, promising to serve as an officer upon graduation. “Swimming gives me the opportunity to compete for B.U., but ROTC is where my life is headed after college,” he says.
