Boys' lacrosse back on top

After surrendering the state title they had held for seven straight years in 2010, the Duxbury Dragon lacrosse team regained the top spot in Massachusetts by defeating defending state champion St. John’s Prep of Danvers for the crown at Harvard Stadium.

It was another solid effort by the Dragons, who built a 7-2 first-quarter lead and never trailed the rest of the night in their 16-9 win over the Eagles.

“We always want to play the best teams possible and they had a great team this year and they battled us to the end,” said Coach Chris Sweet. “Was it redemption for last year? Who knows, but I’m sure our boys remembered what it was like 365 days ago.
