Maimaron named New England Patriots high school football 'Coach of the Year'
By Mike Halloran
Wednesday, December 28, 2011 09:10 AM

After losing out as the Globe’s “Coach of the Year” to Concord-Carlisle’s Mike Robichaud, who saw his Patriots manhandled by the Dragons, 35-13, in 2010’s Division 2A Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium, Duxbury Coach Dave Maimaron got his just reward by being named the MIAA 2011 “Football Coach of the Year.” A former assistant coach at Everett HS, where his team won two Super Bowl titles in three Division 1A appearances, he went on to become the head coach at Hanover for two years before coming to Duxbury.

In his seven years at Duxbury, Maimaron has turned the Dragons into a football power, winning three

Division 2A and one Division 2 Super Bowl with undefeated records of 13-0 in 2005, 2008, 2010, and 2011,

along with five Patriot League titles. During that span he has accumulated a record of 76-10.

Late in 2011 Maimaron was named the New England Patriots High School Football Coach of the Year in recognition of his team’s EMASS Division II Super Bowl

Championship and perfect 13-0 season. The Green Dragons’ 35-0 win over Tewksbury High School completed the fourth 13-0 season in Coach Maimaron’s seven seasons at Duxbury and extends the team’s winning streak to 26 games, the longest in the state.
