| Boys compete at Coach’s Invitational |

The DHS boys’ cross-country team competed in the Coach’s Invitational Cross-Country meet in Wrentham on Saturday. The Dragons had four runners in the junior/senior race, but were without the services of senior captain Jason Angell, who took the day off in preparation for this weekend’s Division meets at Franklin Park. Coach Greg Seery had Alec Stewart try a new racing style, starting slowly near the back of the pack, then gradually moving up in the pack and picking runners off one by one. Stewart ended up placing 110th out of 286 with a time of 19:42. He was followed by Liam MacDonald (228th/22:04), Keelan Murphy (256/23:49), and Cam Tokarski (285th/29:23). Duxbury had five first-year runners in the freshmen 3k race in the afternoon. Tate Allen entered the meet with a goal of getting a top-10 finish. He ran a smart race, holding tenth place almost the entire time, but finishing 13th to win a medal with a time of 11:17. Craig Feeney got some family support during the race and finished 24th in a time of 11:36 to earn a medal, while Kevin O’Rourke ran a great race, placing 68th with a time of 12:24. Jake O’Connor placed 103rd with a time of 13:07 and Peter Gandt placed 126th with a time of 13:51. |
