The Duxbury boy’s and girls’ cross-country teams ran in the 1st Annual Bob McIntyre Twilight Cross Country Meet at the Barnstable fairgrounds over the weekend. Sponsored by MSTCA, the race featured 49 schools participating in Sunday night’s event. In each race the top 25 runners received medals. In the boy’s freshman race in the afternoon Duxbury had five runners with Tate Allen taking 13th-place on the 2.1-mile course with a time of 12:07. Craig Feeney placed 23rd in 12:24, with Kevin O’Rourke finishing 67th with a time of 13:18. Jake O’Connor and Peter Gandt placed 119th and 120th, respectively, with times of 14:46 and 14:48. The boy’s varsity 5k race later that night had senior captain Jason Angell run an amazing race, placing 11th with a time of 16:41. Alec Stewart has improved to a sub six-minute mile pace, placing 81st with a time of 18:24. Liam MacDonald ran a great race as well after coming off of a shoulder injury. MacDonald place 127th with a time of 21:42. “I am very proud of all my runners and look forward to future meets,” said rookie coach Greg Seery. “I’m hoping to look for more medals to add to everyone’s starting collection. Feeney says that he has tasted what a little victory feels like and is looking to improve from there.” |
