Griffin leads golfers over NQ

Freshman Jack Griffin shot a low round of 41 to lead the Duxbury boys’ golf team to a 224-233 win over North Quincy last week on the Duxbury Yacht Club course. Griffin recorded five pars along the way, while senior Jeff Gaita was a stroke behind at 42 and finished with four pars.

Junior John Higgins (45/4 pars), Joe McCarthy (46/2 pars), Luke McDonough (47/2 pars) and Ross Kellar (48/one par) completed the Duxbury scoring, as Coach Jack Stoddard gave his JV players a chance to step up and play at the varsity level for the match with the Red Raiders.

The win comes on the heels of a 224-233 loss to Division 1 BC High in which junior captain Nick Drago fired a 36 (2 birds/5 pars), one shot behind medalist Pat O’Leary of BC.
