The Dragons had their seven-match winning streak broken last week when they dropped a 233-249 decision to Barnstable last Wednesday afternoon on Cape Cod. After having several sub 40 rounds during their winning streak, only James Mattes (37/one birdie/6 pars) was able to break the sub-40 barrier for the Dragons, as he outshone his teammates by several strokes with Nick Drago coming in at 40 with five pars. Jeff Gaita (42/two pars), Jack Ball (43), Cam Daley (43/3 pars), and John Higgins (44/one par) completed the Duxbury scoring. The loss dropped the Dragons to 7-2. The following day the Dragons escaped with a five-stroke victory (245-250) over Silver Lake. Drago turned in the performance of the day with a 37 that included three birdies and three pars, while Bobby O’Brien, Mattes, and Pat Gearin carded 41s. Higgins’ 42 and Daley’s 43 rounded out the Duxbury scoring. The team will travel to Whitman-Hanson for their only match of the week on Thursday, and will take on Division 1 BC High next Tuesday at the Duxbury Yacht Club course. |
