The girls’ golf team took on its two biggest challenges in league play last week and came away with a pair of convincing wins to take the Mass Bay South League title with a perfect 10-0 record. On Tuesday they hosted Falmouth with a chance for a share of the title and walked away with a 4.5-1.5 win over the Clippers on the DYC course. Senior captain Briana Connolly shot a medalist round of 45 in her 2-up win over Mary Kate Robinson, while playing partner Cassidy Goldner was also a 2-up winner in her victory over Meg Anderson. Frances Anne McDonald and Kara Falcone were the big winners of the day with a 4-up win over Liz Rennie and a 3-up victory over Shelden Sparks, respectively. Allie Martin tied her match with Ali Thomas at No. 5, while Devon Tsinzo dropped a 1-down decision to Lynne Sparks at No. 6. In Wednesday’s 4.5-1.5 win over Barnstable at the Olde Barnstable Fairgrounds Golf Club, Connolly notched three pars in her 2-up win over Alex Williams, while Falcone dropped her match to Shaye Macurdy at No. 2. Goldner tied her match with Jackie Franks at No. 3, and McDonald was a 2-up winner over Caroline Snow at No. 4. Martin continued her four-year unbeaten streak with a 3 and 1 win over Sophie Sylvia at No. 5, and Tsinzo closed out the win with her victory over Molly Marcotte. The girls had their final regular-season match with Cardinal Spellman yesterday in Brockton and will play in the Mass Bay South League championships on Monday, May 23. The girls then will play in the MIAA team championships at Green Harbor Golf Club in Marshfield on Wednesday, June 1. |
