![]() A 7-1 win over Quincy and a 5-0 shutout of Pembroke has the Dragons at 9-0-2 and ranked #12 in the Boston Globe’s weekly rankings. Despite its undefeated status, Duxbury will get its biggest test over the next two weeks against the Patriot League iron, along with regular season-ending contests with Plymouth North and Marshfield. It didn’t take long for Duxbury to unload on the Presidents last Tuesday afternoon, as senior Jimmy Landry set up the first Duxbury score with a corner-kick four minutes into the game. After sending his kick toward the net, the ball bounced back to Landry, who chipped it to the far post where senior Tommy Drummy headed it home for a 1-0 lead. Duxbury continued to carry the play, as Drummy notched his second of the game and senior captain Daniel Sangster made it 3-0 when he slotted the ball on the ground to the far post. Senior midfielder Ryan Hendrickson kept the onslaught going in the first half when he sent his shot toward the back post where the goalkeeper got his fingers on it, only to see it slide through his hands and into the net for an insurmountable 4-0 lead. Defender Steve Blout ended Duxbury’s first-half scoring when his corner kick found the back of the net for a 5-0 lead. Despite the lopsided score, the hosts didn’t quit, as they counter attacked and chipped a shot over Max Cote to trail 5-1 at halftime. It was a good game to pad the stats and Drummy made the most of it, registering a hat trick in the second half to make it 6-1. Senior midfielder Nick Lynch would cap the scoring for the Dragons, as he beat the Quincy keeper off the far post, only to have Fenton McCall tap it in from close range for the 7-1 win. Tommy Kazanowski saw action in the second half replacing Cote in net, while Coach John Tocci was able to unload his bench after another dominating showing of total ball control. The Dragons were just as dominant against Pembroke, taking a 1-0 halftime lead, but pouring it on in the second half with four more goals and helping Cote register his eighth shutout of the year. Ryan Piesco, Sangster, Drummy, Eric Larsen, and Ryan Schroeder accounted for the Dragon scoring. |
