Holy Cross lacrosse senior tri-captain Sam Hallowell (DHS ’05) scored her first collegiate goal and it proved to be the game winner in the Crusaders’ 11-7 opening-season victory over UMASS last Tuesday… Mike Baran (Thayer ’07) scored three goals for Amherst College’s two road wins last weekend over St. Anselm and New England College. The sweep for the Lord Jeffs hockey team put them in sole position of first place in the NESCAC. Amherst is currently rated 12th in the USCHO polls and has won eight straight and 12 of its last 13 games… Junior Betsey Sauer (DHS ’06) and her #3-ranked Duke lacrosse team traveled to Denver to open their season and defeated the Pioneers 17-8. Sauer started on defense and was credited with a CT. The following day in Denver they beat the U of CA at Berkley, 19-7. Sauer earned an assist on the sixth Duke goal… Babson College sophomore Terry Woods (DHS ’06) assisted on the game-winner in the Beavers hockey team 5-2 win over Connecticut College on Friday. The following day Woods assisted on the second Babson goal in a 3-2 OT loss to Tufts… Dartmouth senior Tim Daniels (Milton Academy ’06) registered an assist in the Big Green’s LAX 11-10 OT win over Hartford in its season-opener… Junior Max Quinzani (DHS ’06) scored two goals and added an assist in Duke’s season-opening 11-7 win over Bucknell. Quinzani followed that with a one-goal effort as Duke squeezed by Colgate, 9-8, on Friday… Fairfield senior Chris Ajemian (DHS ’05) scored 2 goals and assisted on another in the Stags’ 10-9 win over Delaware… Georgetown junior Chris Nixon (DHS ’06) and his Hoya teammates knocked off #3 Maryland in their lacrosse season-opener, 13-10, on Saturday in Washington, DC… Senior Peter Antons (DHS ’05) dropped his doubles match, 8-5, as Indiana University lost to #20 ranked Alabama, 4-3…. Richmond senior Lexie Marrocco (DHS ’05) assisted on one goal, as the Spiders lacrosse team let Duke get away with a 14-9 win after being tied at 2-2 at halftime… Junior Matt Fuchs (DHS ’06) registered an assist in Yale’s 13-8 win over Holy Cross in its LAXseason opener… Harvard sophomore defenseman Sam McMahon (Groton ’07) and her Crimson lacrosse team knocked off Holy Cross, 13-10, on Saturday in Worcester… |
