The New England Swimming Association held its Top 10 Banquet last week in Dracut and featured 2008 Olympian and local swimmer Elizabeth Biesel as its guest speaker. The banquet is held to acknowledge the swimmers who recorded the top 10 fastest times over the course of one year while competing against hundreds of swimmers from New England in sanctioned meets. Kingsbury Kingfish swimmers Hunter Chaisson, Brian Keene and Shelby Rader made the Top Ten. Coach Jay Craft surprised the Kingfish swimmers at a swim meet in Kansas this past summer when he told them that they wouldn’t be spending their last day in a grueling practice, but would be traveling instead to Omaha to see the Olympic Trials. The swimmers were able to watch Biesel, Michael Phelps, Aaron Piersol, Natalie Coughlin, Brendan Hansen, Ryan Lochte and others compete. Biesel inspired the swimmers at the banquet, as she spoke about her journey to becoming an Olympian, and her amazing experiences while in Beijing. |
