BODY ENGLISH: Sophomore Brayden Minahan tries to coax his putt into the hole on the 7th green at the DYC during Friday’s win over undefeated Hanover.

Winning three straight matches last week against Whitman-Hanson (180-187), Middleboro (199-235) and Hanover (198-208), the Dragons now find themselves zeroing in on a league title.

Two more Patriot League matches over the next several days should go a long way in determining the importance of Hingham’s visit to the DYC course next week, and if history is any indication, Coach Jack Stoddard’s team could be celebrating a league title afterwards.

The win over Whitman-Hanson featured all eight Duxbury players coming in under 40, led by senior Wes Barrington, who pared the Ridder Country Club course with a round of 34 that included seven pars and a birdie.

It was the Dragons’ depth that won the match, as the Panther’s Ryan Benton, Brett Goldman, and Shawn Keenan all shot 35s to match Duxbury’s Jonathan Stoddard (8 pars).

The rest of the Duxbury squad took care of business, as Kevin Kuckuk (36/7 pars), Phil Sciretta (38/4 pars/one birdie). Mark Tedeschi (38/6 pars), and Brayden Minahan (38/5 pars) capped the Dragon scoring.

Alternates Stephan Krall had a big afternoon with a round of 36 that included five pars and a birdie, while alternate Billy Curley shot a round of 39 with a couple of pars and a birdie.

Coach Stoddard was able to go to his bench in last Thursday’s destruction of Middleboro.

Krall (38/7 pars) and James Magner (38/6 pars/one birdie) led the Dragons on the DYC course, while Kuckuk (5 pars/one birdie) was a stroke behind the winners.

Freshman Curtis Owen (41/3 pars/one birdie) and Curley (43/4 pars) rounded out the Dragons’ scoring, while Jake Harvey (44), Pat Murphy (45), and Brad Rose (46) also toured the course.

The match with the Sachems allowed Stoddard to rest his regulars for Friday’s showdown with undefeated Hanover at DYC.

Barrington got his team off to a great start when the senior eagled the first hole while on his way to medalist honors with a round of 37 that included five pars.

Sciretta also carded a 37 with eight pars that helped negate the rounds of 38 and 39 turned in by Hanover’s David Gibson and Matt Mont.

Stoddard (40/4 pars/one birdie), Minahan (42/2 pars/one birdie), Kuckuk (42/4 pars), and Tedeschi (44/4 pars) helped to give the Dragons their sixth straight win.
