2009 BASEBALL CAPTAINS: Shane Dibona, Jack Garrity, and Colin Woods will lead the Patriot League champs in defense of their third straight crown.
The 2008 DHS varsity baseball team held its annual break-up dinner this summer in the student lounge, and for the first time made it a family affair by including the JV and freshmen teams.

Head Coach Barney Earle had the pleasure of winning his third consecutive Patriot League crown, and he was happy to award seniors Rich Sciretta and Brett Bartlett their co-MVP awards for their strong and consistent play throughout the season.

Sciretta made the move from first base to third and performed admirably, while Bartlett was the team’s ace and also did an excellent job at the plate.{sidebar id=4}

Freshman Phil Sciretta captured the first annual Slugger Award for leading the team in hitting with a .476 average, and he joined brother Rich, Shane Dibona, and Bartlett as Patriot League All-Stars. Nick Dow was also honored with this year’s Patriot League Sportsmanship Award.

Earle also announced his 2009 captains and they are Jack Garrity, Dibona, and Colin Woods.

“The talent is strong with the majority of our players returning next season,” said Earle. “With hard work, next year promises to be a great year.”
