pitcher Jamie Ducinski (DHS ’06) started and pitched 3 innings of
one-run ball, as Bridgewater State won the MASCAC softball title with a
5-1 win over Westfield State on Sunday. The victory guarantees that the
Bears will be going to the NCAA Division II Tournament ...

Sophomore Chris Protasewich (DHS ’06) is a member of the Boston College sailing team that finished first in the Central Series 2 Regatta held at Boston College. Protasewich skippered the BC boat in the “B” Division and finished first with 38 points in 9 races, which when combined with BC’s “A” Division boat that scored 40 points gave the Eagles a 14 point win over Connecticut College…{sidebar id=4} Freshman Sam McMahon (Groton ’07) and the Harvard women’s lacrosse team (9-7) ended their season with a 13-11 win over Boston College. McMahon had a game-high 3 ground balls and 3 caused turnovers for Harvard against the Eagles. McMahon ends her first season for the Crimson with a team-high 16 caused turnovers and collected 22 ground balls and 13 draw controls… Senior captain/attack Jenna Goldstein (DHS ’04) scored a team-season high seven goals including the 100th of her career and assisted on another to lead Assumption College past Franklin Pierce University, 20-18, in Northeast-10 Conference women’s lacrosse last week. Goldstein is just the third Greyhound to reach 100 goals following All-Americans Jenny Mongeau (2003-06) (188) and Karen Shaw (1998-99) (105). She finished the season with 27 goals and 8 assists for 35 points and concluded her career with 101 goals and 35 assists for 136 points, second-best in Hounds’ annals to Mongeau (188-33—221)… Senior captain Bethany Nardone (DHS ’04) and her Babson College women’s lacrosse team crushed Wellesley College, 18-2, for the championship of the NEWMAC Tournament on Sunday at Babson, earning the Beavers a trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament… Bates College rowing had an impressive day Saturday at the New England Rowing Championships. Both the Bates women’s and men’s varsity eights qualified for their respective grand finals, where the women finished third in New England and the men placed fifth… Sophomore Kevin Gould (DHS ’05) and his Bentley College lacrosse team were knocked out of the Northeast-10 Lacrosse Tournament by Merrimack, 10-1, in first-round action, ending the season for the Falcons (7-7). Gould was the #2 scorer on the year for Bentley with 23 goals and 15 assists. Junior Chris Woods (Sandwich ’05) also had a solid season for the Falcons with 9 goals and 4 assists, while Troy Neville (DHS ’07) had a goal and an assist and was 28 for 55 on face-offs. Freshman Brian Pineau (BCHS ’07) got into 3 games for the Falcons and registered an assist… Bowdoin freshman Molly Nestor (DHS ’07) hit a two-run homer and a two-run double, but it wasn’t enough for the Polar Bears in an 8-4 loss to Brandeis in the first game of a doubleheader loss that ended their season at 23-15… Freshman Kate Cipolletti (DHS ’07) and her B.U. women’s lacrosse team qualified for their fourth straight NCAA Tournament appearance by posting a 15-3 victory in an NCAA-Play-in game over Sacred Heart on Saturday at Nickerson Field... UMass freshman Kara Oloskey (DHS ’07) saw action in last week’s 10-3 loss to Temple in the Atlantic-10 Championship game…{sidebar id=1} Freshman catcher Grant Bowen (DHS ’07) knocked in the only run of the game for Carleton in a 2-1 loss to cross-town rival, St. Olaf College. On Saturday Bowen went 2 for 3 in the second game of a doubleheader loss to nationally-ranked St. Thomas. Bowen is 5 for his last 15 at bats with 5 RBI… Freshman Julia Nissi (Milton Academy ’07) and her Cornell women’s lacrosse team will have to sweat out the next two days awaiting whether it will receive an at-large bid to the 2008 NCAA tournament after losing to No. 10 Notre Dame 15-11 on Saturday afternoon…Senior Kristen Barry (Thayer ’04) scored 3 goals and freshman Broghan Cully (Nobles ’07) scored 2, but it wasn’t enough to keep Dartmouth from an 11-10 lacrosse loss to Stanford last Sunday… Colin Riggs (DHS ’04) had a spectacular week to end his baseball career at Colby College. The senior went 8 for 13 with 5 RBI to help the Mules record their best record in the past decade... Sophomore Chris Nixon (DHS ’06) and his Georgetown Hoyas were stunned by Penn State, 11-10, in OT on Saturday. Nixon was credited with 2 groundballs in the game… Junior Alec Siefert (DHS ’05) and his Ithaca College men’s lacrosse team won the Empire 8 Championship and an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Siefert had a goal in the two-game tournament win… Junior Peter Antons (DHS ’05) and his #38-ranked Indiana University men’s tennis team has received a bid for the NCAA Tennis Championships and will face #29-ranked Vanderbilt in the first round in Oxford, MA on Saturday… The Bates women’s varsity eight boat with Caitlin Murphy (DHS ’05) and Alison Frye (’06) placed second out of four boats in one of three preliminary heats at the N.E. Rowing Championships in Worcester on Saturday, qualifying them for the grand final with a time of 6:59.028. In the grand final, Bates finished with a time of 6:53.348, behind only Trinity and Williams, the same two boats that finished ahead of Bates at the 2007 NCAA grand final… Roger Williams sophomore defender Rian Kearney (DHS ’06) scored a goal in last Tuesday’s 17-4 quarterfinal victory over Wentworth in the Commonwealth Coast Conference lacrosse championships. On Thursday RW lost to #1 seed Endicott, 16-6, ending its season. Kearney received Honorable Mention selection to the CCC All-Star team… Senior Tim Daniels (Milton Academy ’04) scored a goal in Dartmouth’s 12-6 win over Harvard on Senior Day…Skidmore College sophomore Matt Levesque (DHS ’06) was named Liberty League “Rookie of The Year”. Levesque had an outstanding rookie campaign, leading the Thoroughbreds in goals with 30. He earned two “Rookie of the Week” awards and one “Offensive Performer of the Week” honor this season. He ranked second among conference scorers with 2.50 goals per game, including eight games with three or more goals this season. Older brother Tom Levesque (DHS ’05), a junior captain at Skidmore, was named a first-team Liberty League All-Star after scoring 26 goals… Freshman Ben Cederberg (DHS ’07) scored 2 goals and Jeff Gomer (DHS ’05) assisted on another, as Wheaton beat Babson, 11-9, to advance to Saturday’s Pilgrim Conference final where they lost to Springfield, 9-5… Sophomore Matt Fuchs (DHS ’06) had a goal and an assist for Yale in their 16-10 loss to Maryland on Saturday in College Park… The Massachusetts Maritime Academy Track & Field team wrapped up its season Saturday at the New England Division III Track & Field Championship Meet in New London, Connecticut. Freshman Meredith Hall (DHS ’07) capped a solid season in the javelin capturing 12th place in a field of 20 women with a throw of 102 feet. First place went to Xenidis Fortini of Wesleyan at 141-04… Freshman Leigh Tedeschi (DHS ’07) managed an assist in Bentley’s 15-13 loss to Bryant in the opening round of the Northeast-10 Women’s Lacrosse Tournament.{sidebar id=6} |
