Freshman Molly Nestor (Notre Dame HS ’07) was outstanding for the
Bowdoin College softball team on their recent spring trip to Florida.
The Polar Bears enjoyed a 14-2 record (the program’s best-ever start to
a season) before returning north last week. Nestor was fourth on the
squad with a .351 batting average, starting 12 at third base, catcher
and designated hitter. The freshman collected eight RBIs and ended the
trip with a flourish, going 2-4 with a double and a two-run single that
capped a six-run extra-inning rally to give Bowdoin a 8-3 victory over
SUNY-New Paltz in the final game of the trip…

Goldstein followed that performance with a 7:13 appearance in net for the Greyhounds, who dropped a 15-7 decision to Bentley and freshman Leigh Tedeschi (DHS ’07), who scored a goal for the Falcons. Earlier in the week Tedeschi scored 3 goals for Bentley in a 14-8 lacrosse loss to Stonehill… Senior captain and Babson College defender Bethany Nardone (DHS ’04) was credited with 3 groundballs in the Beaver’s 17-4 lacrosse rout of Wheaton last Tuesday in Norton… Junior Peter Bizinkauskas (DHS ’05) picked up a win on the mound for Babson College, allowing three runs on four hits in seven innings of work in the Beavers’ 18-4 win over Johnson & Wales… Sophomore Kevin Gould (DHS ’05) scored three goals and junior Chris Woods (Sandwich ’05) added three points to lead Bentley in a 13-3 win over Franklin Pierce in Northeast-10 Conference men’s lacrosse action on Saturday afternoon at Sodexho Field in NH… Junior second baseman Rachael Sprague (DHS ’05) supplied Bridgewater State’s only run of the game with a HR in a 7-1 loss to Wheaton. In the second game of the doubleheader Sprague doubled in a 6-0 shutout win over the Lyons… Hobart freshman Will Tucker (DHS ’07) dropped a 6-2/6-2 match to Karl Shiefer of St. John Fisher in the Statesmen’s 6-3 win over STJF… Freshman catcher Grant Bowen (DHS ’07) went 1 for 3 in Carleton College’s 12-2 loss to Concordia… Sophomore Gary Hines (DHS ’06) pitched two scoreless innings in Curry’s 14-4 thrashing of Babson last Tuesday… Senior Tim Daniels (Milton Academy ’04) scored his first goal of the year to help Dartmouth tie Penn 8-8 in regulation before losing 9-8 in OT to the Quakers…{sidebar id=1} Dartmouth senior Kristen Barry (Thayer ’04) scored a pair of goals and added an assist in the Big Green’s 10-9 loss to Cornell and Julia Nissi (Milton Academy ’07) … Sophomore Max Quinzani (DHS ’06) scored three goals in #2-ranked Duke’s 17-6 win over #11-ranked John Hopkins…Sophomore Betsey Sauer (DHS ’06) and her #7-ranked Duke University women’s lacrosse team suffered their third straight loss after bowing to #12-ranked Notre Dame, 12-8, on Thursday… Junior Chris Ajemian (DHS’05) scored 2 goals as Fairfield came close to upsetting #5-ranked Georgetown on Saturday before falling 10-8. Georgetown sophomore defender Chris Nixon (DHS ’06) was credited with 3 ground balls in that game. Earlier in the week Nixon registered an assist in a 14-7 win over Mt. St. Mary’s … Hartwick junior Steve Caramello (DHS ’05) was credited with an assist in his team’s 9-8 loss to Elmira…
