The Duxbury HS sailing team won the deciding fifth race in a five-race battle with BC High on Saturday to open its season with a 3-2 win over the Eagles in Duxbury Bay. Overcast skies and chilly 40-degree weather marked the opening of the sailing season, while light winds around 5-mph came in from the east-northeast. The Dragons opened the afternoon by winning the first race, but the Eagles responded by taking the next two. With the score 2-1, the Duxbury coaching staff decided to replace Mike Reney and Morgan Gould with the lighter Julia Gould and Allyssa Siefert: a move that paid big dividends The pair was able to generate great boat speed and won the final two races to give Duxbury a come-from-behind win. The tandems of Andrew Sommer and Addy White, along with Zach Runci and Katie Gluskin, rounded out the trio of DHS sailors.
