There’s a new club at DHS—the DHS Figure Skating Team. Duxbury has joined over 60 high schools across New England in creating a US Figure Skating recognized club for figure skaters so they can tie their sport to their school, and compete against other high schools across the state. These girls have all been skating since a very young age, and have competed locally, nationally, and even abroad.{sidebar id=1}
Jacquie Cronin, Katherine Vitaro, Alex Shaughnessy and Tessa Riccio.
They skate anywhere
from three to seven days a week, in a variety of disciplines including
freestyle, dance, and Theatre on Ice. Now they will be competing in
their first high school competition at the 2008 High School Team Open
on April 27 at the Nashoba Valley Olympia in Boxborough, MA, and at the
North Shore Open, on June 1. They each may be competing individually as
well as in team maneuvers and team spin events. Pictured are this
year’s team members: junior Jacquie Cronin, and freshmen Katherine
Vitaro, Alex Shaughnessy, and Tessa Riccio. Their advisor is art
teacher, Mary Anne Leydon.{sidebar id=6} |
