Kingfish Excell at New England Championships

Kingfish swim team members competed at the New England Swimming Championships in early February at Harvard University’s Blodgett Pool. New England Swimming represents 6500 Athletes from over 100 teams in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Vermont, and holds semi-annual championships for swimmers from the N.E. States who attain fast qualifying times.

Kingfish swim team members competed at the New England Swimming Championships in early February at Harvard University’s Blodgett Pool. New England Swimming represents 6500 Athletes from over 100 teams in Massachusetts, Rhode Island, New Hampshire and Vermont, and holds semi-annual championships for swimmers from the N.E. States who attain fast qualifying times.{sidebar id=4}

The Kingfish were represented by 14 swimmers that included Duxbury swimmers Kaitlin Buckley, Emily Hutchinson, Sarah Goldberg, Avery Riddle, Shelby Rader, Pat O’Neal, Hunter Chiasson, and Arthur Su.

022708youthswimpic1.jpgRepresenting the Girls’ 15-19 Division, Buckley qualified for three individual events and three relays and finished with best times in the 400 IM (4:58), 100 freestyle (56.5 seconds), and the 200 freestyle (2:01). Hutchinson competed in three relays, performing best times in the 100 and 200 freestyle.{sidebar id=1}

In the Girls’ 13-14 Division, Goldberg qualified in three individual events and three relays, achieving best times. Riddle competed in two individual events and three relays and finished with best times in the 200 free (2:09) and 100 butterfly (1:07). Rader swam an individual event and three relays with best times in the 100 (:59.9) and 200 freestyle (2:09).

Competing in the Boys’ 15-19 Division, Chaisson competed in four individual events and two relays with best times in the 200 back and 400 IM (4:24). His time in the 200 back (1:58.3) qualified him to swim at the Speedo Northern Championship Meet in Long Island in early March. O’Neal competed in seven individual events and three relays with best times in the 200 backstroke (2:04), 200 free (1:47), 100 free (49.9) and the 400 IM (4:25). Su represented the 13-14 boys with three individual events and best times in the 50 free (25.5 seconds) and 200 breaststroke (2:40).

Additional highlights were the 13-14 girls 400 medley relay with Avery Riddle, Goldberg, Rader and Elise Campbell (Marshfield) finishing 13th overall and the 15-19 boys 400 medley placing eighth    featuring Chiasson, O’Neal, Danny Caldwell (Norwell), and Brian Keane (Hanson.).
