Brandeis freshman Ben Bray (DHS ’07) finished 17th in the mile at the
Division III New England Indoor Track Championships at Tufts over the
weekend… Dartmouth senior Kristen Barry (Thayer ’04) scored 2 goals in
an 18-5 thrashing at the hands of #5-ranked Syracuse in the Big Green’s
season opener in NY on Sunday. In that same game Dartmouth freshman
Broghan Cully (Nobles ’07) was credited with an assist…

The University of Connecticut men’s golf opened the 2008 spring campaign with a dual match loss to Florida Atlantic at Bear Lakes Country Club. The Huskies finished with a team total of 303, dropping the match by seven strokes to the Owls. Leading the way for the Huskies was freshman Mike Gunderson (DHS ’07), who shot a career-low 74 on the day...{sidebar id=4} Sophomore Max Quinzani (DHS ’06) is off to a fast start for the Duke University lacrosse team with 5 goals and an assist in the team’s first two games against Bucknell (16-4) and Vermont (19-7)… Duke sophomore Betsey Sauer (DHS ’06) and her Blue Devil lacrosse team are 4-0 after knocking off Richmond (17-6) with Lexie Marrocco (DHS ’05), who scored a pair of goals and added an assist, and Erica Marrocco (DHS ’06), who made 16 saves in net for the Spiders. Two days later Marrocco added another 3 points in a loss to Oregon… Georgetown defenseman Chris Nixon (DHS ’06) was credited with four ground balls in an 11-6 season-opening loss to #7 ranked Maryland over the weekend in D.C…. Freshman Sara Schwanke (DHS ’07) made it back into the lineup for Gordon College after suffering a bout of mono and grabbed 7 rebounds in a loss to the U. of New England… Sophomore Meg Shine (Tabor ’06) made 21 saves for her first career shutout and Hamilton College edged visiting Wesleyan University, 1-0, in a New England Small College Athletic Conference game on Feb. 17. Shine lowered her goals against average to 3.09 and improved her save percentage to .906. The shutout is Hamilton’s first since the opening game of the 2006-07 season… {sidebar id=1}Junior Steve Caramello (DHS ’05), a 2007 honorable mention All-League honoree, is Hartwick’s top returning scorer (17 goals, 18 assists). Hartwick’s lacrosse season gets under way on Saturday against Wright State…Harvard sophomore Andrew Knapp (DHS ’06) dropped a 3-1 decision to Lou Miller of Columbia in the 285-lbs weight class in a 26-14 loss on Friday night in NYC… It’s been a rough start to the lacrosse season for Holy Cross senior Cara O’Sullivan (DHS ’04) and freshman Meredith Stevens (Cape Cod Academy ’07), as the Crusaders dropped a 19-2 decision to Harvard on Sunday after absorbing a 9-5 loss to UMass… Junior Alec Siefert (DHS ’05) scored 3 goals and added an assist in Ithaca’s 21-10 trouncing of Lycoming… Senior Matt Harhen (DHS ’04) finished 7th in the 200-yard medley relay at the Patriot League swimming championships at the US Naval Academy over the weekend… Maryland sophomore Kerri Connolly (DHS ’06) was tied for fifth as the University of Maryland was in a tie for fourth place in the team standings after Sunday’s opening round of the Cuthbert Cup women’s golf tournament being hosted by the College of Charleston. Connolly fired a 1-under-par 71 at Cougar Point and ended the first round as one of six players under par. She fired a 34 on the back nine to rally to the finish, matching the lowest back-nine score of any player in the field… Senior Ben Camobrecco (DHS ’04) scored 9 points for Roger Williams in a 71-48 win over Eastern Nazarene, wrapping up the co-championship of the Commonwealth Coast Conference with Curry… Freshman Brendan Carroll (DHS ’07) assisted on the go-ahead goal for St. Anselms in the third period, but Salem State came back for a 4-2 hockey win in Manchester on Sunday… Yale sophomore Matt Fuchs (DHS ’06) and his Eli lacrosse team dropped their season opener to Holy Cross, 7-6 on Sunday… Junior Chris Ajemian (DHS ’05) and his Fairfield Stag lacrosse team knocked off Providence, 7-6, in their season opener… All good things come to an end and that was the case for Holy Cross senior defenseman Parny Ormiston (DHS ’04), who ended her college hockey career yesterday against St. Anselms (0-0) after playing 104 straight games for the Crusaders.{sidebar id=6} |
