Leading the Lady Dragons were Emily Hutchinson and Katelyn Buckley, who both won two individual events and contributed on the three winning relay teams. The two swimmers teamed with Molly Davis and Andrea Strand  to help Duxbury win the 200-yard medley in a season-low 2:04.03.

In the next event,  Buckley stepped up next to teammate Katelyn Coghlan to race the 200-yard freestyle. After four laps both swimmers were even, but Buckley pulled ahead and won in a personal-best 2:10.06, with Coghlan finishing a close second (2:12.40).  Brianna Murphy was 10th and Laura Nelson was 17th. {sidebar id=1}

Buckley also dusted seven seconds off her 500-yard freestyle (5:40.31), touching first by a full 19 seconds ahead of Coghlan, who was second. Alix Brady was fourth and Kelsey O’Neal was seventh with season-best times.

Freestyle ace Hutchinson won a very close 50-yard freestyle (26.72). Followed by fellow freshman Sarah Goldberg (4th), Gaby Pipp (5th) and co-captain Sarah Trevisani (6th). Hutchinson also cruised to victory in the 100-yard freestyle (58.40), while Pipp was third (1:00.51), Murphy was sixth, and Trevisani was tenth.

Davis was the top Duxbury finisher in the 200-yard individual medley, just nipping out co-captain Liz Antaya to take second.  Andrea Strand was fourth and Hilary Dudley finished ninth.

Goldberg dusted three seconds off her 100-yard backstroke to take second (1:08.23), touching out Davis (1:09.42), who also raced a best time. Carolyn Blout was fourth and Julia Allen was seventh.

The tightest race of the day was the 100-yard breaststroke, where co-captain Strand battled to a photo finish (1:81.80) and had to settle for second. Kelly Turok was 10th and Casey Walker was 13th in the event.

The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Dudley, Pipp, Trevisani and Goldberg splashed to a win over Scituate/Cohasset (1:52.72), while Hutchinson, Goldberg, Buckley and Davis swam a season low 400-yard freestyle relay (3:59. 50).

Several of the swimmers will compete at the South Sectionals on Friday at Boston University.

“We had a great day,” said Coach Jay Craft. “The team really pulled together to win this meet.”
