The boys’ tennis team had one more chance to move into contention for first place in Patriot League tennis, but it wasn’t to be, as the Dragons dropped a 4-1 decision toHingham.

After jumping out to a 2-0 first-inning lead, Duxbury was in control, as it expanded its lead to 4-0 after three, and 7-0 after five innings, before closing out Hingham for their ninth win of the year.

After the long ride to Annapolis on Thursday, Coaches Hans Jensen and Rob Knecht had the sailors practice on the waters of the Severn River on Friday in preparation for their pursuit of the Mallory Cup.

The best of western MA high school lacrosse has now met the best of the east, and there is little doubt who rules the roost. The Longmeadow Lancers (11-1) came to Duxbury on Saturday afternoon, and when they left to go home they understood why the Dragons have won five of the last six State championships.
