 Jim Shaughnessy of Garden Lane passed his 2nd degree black belt first review on June 21 at the Yuan Yen Do Karate Centre. He also won a 1st place trophy in the weapons form/sword event and a 2nd place trophy in the forms event at the national tournament.

The Aleppo Shriners of Wilmington have announced the players selected to participate in the 30th Annual Shriners Football Classic, and Duxbury’s Peter Bobseine has been selected as a member of the South squad. Duxbury High School football Coach Dave Maimaron has also been named to the South squad coaching staff, where he will join Peter Columbo of Brockton and Dan Buron of Bridgewater-Raynham.

After qualifying with a big regular-season win against Norwell, the #22-seeded Lady Dragons opened tournament play at #11-seeded Apponoquet. With their improved game and determination, the Lady Dragons shined on the courts, as they won the preliminary round match, 5-0.

After a 5-0 win over #13-seeded Dighton-Rehoboth and a 4-1 victory over #4-seeded Somerset in the opening rounds of the MIAA Division I South Sectional tennis tournament, the Dragons gave it their best shot before bowing to Falmouth, 3-2 in the Sectional quarterfinals last week.

Duxbury’s one-year claim on the MIAA Division II State lacrosse title expired in the semifinals on Friday afternoon at Chandler Field in Duxbury when the Lady Dragons fell victim to Norwell, 19-11.

Fairfield University junior Chris Ajemian (DHS ’05) has been named to the 2008 NEILA New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association All-New England Division I team as a mid-fielder. Ajemian finished the season with 15 goals, and was second on the team with 22 points. He also was third on the team with 27 ground balls.
