Duxbury Youth Baseball, in conjunction with the DHS varsity baseball team, will hold “DYB Night†this coming Friday, May 15 when the Dragons play Whitman-Hanson at 6 p.m. at Chandler Field. The baseball boosters will be raffling off Red Sox tickets, and any youth players who come in their uniforms or game shirts will receive a goody bag. Come and watch the Dragons, who are having an outstanding season with a 12-2 record, as they get ready for post-season play and try to keeps their hopes alive for a Patriot League title. |

All good things come to an end, and for Coach Chris Sweet and his Duxbury lacrosse team their 99-game winning streak against Massachusetts’s high school teams came to a conclusion on Saturday night in Duxbury when the Dragons dropped a 12-10 decision to #1-ranked St. John’s Prep of Danvers.

Junior Jeff Blout struck out 14 Red Raiders and hurled a five-hitter to lead the Dragons to their fourth straight win in a 4-0 shutout of North Quincy, setting the stage for Wednesday’s Patriot League showdown with undefeated Hingham at Chandler Field in Duxbury at 4.
Since losing a 6-3 decision to Marshfield over school break, Coach Barney Earle’s team has reeled off lopsided wins over four Patriot League opponents, averaging 11 runs per game.

Duxbury’s American Legion Post 223 is ready to begin its 2009 summer baseball season after a year’s hiatus. Post 223 has a long-standing tradition of producing “dream teams,†combining the best young adult baseball talent from Marshfield and Duxbury. The team will play a vigorous 20-game schedule in June and July against District 10 opponents such as Plymouth, Sandwich, Brockton, Pembroke, Norwell, and Rockland.

The DHS girls’ lacrosse team continues to run roughshod over its opponents, scoring 18 goals in each game in wins over Sandwich (18-4) and Westborough (18-14) during spring vacation week.

The DHS sailing team went down to Tabor Academy on Saturday for a quad meet with Tabor, Milton Academy, and Manchester & Essex Regional High School. Light and variable winds were predicted, but Mother Nature provided enough of a breeze to sail.
