They’ve been picked as the favorite to repeat as Division II State champs, and by the look at things so far, there seems to be little doubt as to why.
After squeaking by Walpole, 4-3, in its season opener, the Duxbury girls’ hockey team got back to form last week with a 10-1 trouncing of Pembroke/Whitman-Hanson and a convincing 7-2 win over Canton last Wednesday night on the road.

It looks like the Duxbury girls’ swim team is the team to beat in the Patriot League, as they began their season at 4-0 with two more wins last week over Pembroke (88-68) and Hanover (91-87). The addition of eight freshmen has given the Lady Dragons the depth they will need to compete with the best teams in the division.

Head Coach Bob Sullivan and his Lady Dragon basketball team and it didn’t go as expected, as the girls were humbled on their home court by Quincy HS, 44-35.
While Duxbury started out strong, and ended with a late-game rally that fell short, it were the two middle periods that cost the Lady Dragons a chance to reward Sullivan with a win in his first Duxbury start.

Led by returning tri-captains Michela North, Katelyn Norton and Shannon McLaughlin, new head coach Bob Sullivan’s girls’ basketball team won’t be lacking for experience, or a positive attitude, as the veteran coach returns seven juniors to the 2011 squad that qualified for last year’s MIAA Division II playoffs.
With over 20 years of coaching experience, Sullivan isn’t about to admit he has all the answers to taking his team deep into 2012’s playoffs. But he seemed to do pretty well in his first two years of varsity coaching at Bourne HS where he led the girls’ program to its first league title in 25 years in his second season. Along with that title was a 20-3 record and his selection as the DIII Mass. Coach of the Year.
