Private burial services were held at Mayflower Cemetery last Friday for Patrick Joseph Purcell who died Feb. 5. He was 47. Private burial services were held at Mayflower Cemetery last Friday for Patrick Joseph Purcell who died Feb. 5. He was 47. Born and raised in Worcester, he was educated in the Worcester public and parochial schools. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Boston University College of Engineering in 1982 and six years later was awarded an M.B.A. with distinguished honors from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.{sidebar id=1} He began his career as an engineer and later worked as a management consultant and in information technology. His most recent position was with Biogen Idec of Cambridge as chief information officer. He was a member of the First Parish Church of Duxbury and served on the board of the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras. He is remembered as a loving and inspirational husband and father. He is recalled by friends as someone who enjoyed life and was quick to laugh while always supporting his family and community. He leaves his wife Christine and three daughters, Genevieve, Gabrielle and Bridgett of Duxbury; three sisters, Jean Wilk of Wilbraham, Nancy Pojani of Boylston and Katie Caragian of Marlborough; and three brothers, Jack of Worcester, Bill of Woodbridge, Conn., and Dan of Glen Allen, Virginia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Duxbury Student Union or in care of Alice Joy Lewis, Ottawa Suzuki Strings, Inc., Box 99 Ottawa, Kan. 66067. A celebration of Mr. Purcell’s life will be held March 1 at 2 p.m. at First Parish Church. |
