She was the daughter of Fenna and Jacques Hermanus Haas-Wieringa. Mrs. Dresden-Haas was a graduate of the Amsterdamse Lyceum and the Amsterdamse Conservatorium where she majored in voice.  A talented musician all her life, she began painting in her eighties and became an accomplished watercolorist sharing her works with friends and family. Mrs. Dresden-Haas was the wife of the late Mark Jan Dresden, professor of Iranian Studies in the Department of Oriental Studies at the University of Pennsylvania. She leaves her son, Jacob Dresden and wife Patricia of Berwyn, Penn. and their sons Jake Dresden, his wife JJ and their daughters Margo and Etta of Denver, Colo. and Dr. Graham Dresden and his wife Dr. Irene Hsu Dresden and their children Oliver and Josie of Palo Alto, Calif.; her daughter, Fenna Hanes Tretakoff and her husband Lou of Duxbury and their children, Jennifer Hanes Schromm and husband Michael and their sons William and Winston of Duxbury and Joshua and Amy Tretakoff of San Rafael, Calif.; Winston Hanes and wife Uki and their children Fenna and Marc of Cebu, the Philippines, and Heather Hanes Thompson and husband David and their children, Drew, Jake, Nate, Jacqueline and Fenna of Charlotte, NC. Her son, Dr. Marc Dresden and his wife Judy, formerly of Houston, Tex., preceded her in death.   They are survived by Laurel and husband Doug Burrin and children Nick, Grace and Hannah of Houston, Tex. and Cynthia Dresden, JD, of Harpswell, Maine.

A memorial service will be held at the Village at Duxbury later this month.  Burial will be private this summer in Media, Penn.

Donations in Mrs. Dresden-Haas’ honor may be made to the Sem Dresden Foundation, established in the Netherlands, to continue the dissemination of a great body of musical compositions written by Sem Dresden.  Sem Dresden was the director of the Amsterdamse Conservatorium and Jacqueline Dresden’s father-in-law. Please send donations c/o her daughter, Fenna Hanes Tretakoff, 14 Massasoit Road, Duxbury, MA 02332.
