David Francis Sullivan, 57 of Norwood, died at home on Feb. 2. Born to Francis and Gertrude (Walsh) Sullivan, he was one of six children. He grew up in Sharon and graduated from Xaverian Brothers High School and the University of New Hampshire and received an MBA at Western New England College. Mr. Sullivan started his career at SofTech Inc. in Waltham where he met his wife, Carol Gray. For 25 years they resided in Duxbury where they enjoyed raising their children and where he was an executive with Battelle Memorial Lab. He traveled extensively throughout the US, Europe and the Middle East with his work. He gave freely of his time to the community and served on the Finance and Fiscal Advisory Committees for the Town of Duxbury. Mr. Sullivan enjoyed boating and fishing in Duxbury Bay on his boat,“El Niño.” Diving for lobsters was a favored past-time in summer months, while skiing with family in Vermont was a treasured winter tradition. Mr. Sullivan leaves his wife, Carol of Marshfield; his children Kate and her husband Richard DeLanders of West Roxbury, and Benjamin of Brighton; his mother, Gertrude Sullivan of Walpole; his siblings, Marion Sullivan and her husband Greg of Norwood, Claire and her husband Joe Sibilia of Hampden, Mark Sullivan and his wife Telma of Walpole, Ann and her husband Doug Stockbridge of Kennebunk, Maine and Jean and her husband Al Easterday of Concord; numerous nieces and nephews and close friend Katherine Gallagher. Visiting hours will be held in the Sullivan Funeral Home, 551 Washington St. in Hanover on Friday, Feb. 10 from 4-8 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Feb. 11 at 10 a.m. in Holy Family Church, 601 Tremont St., Duxbury. Burial will be in Mayflower Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations in Mr. Sullivan’s memory may be made to the Cardinal Cushing Center, 405 Washington St., Hanover, MA 02339. |
