William Burke Griffin of Hudson Florida, formerly of Duxbury Mass., died on November 23, 2011. Bill passed away at home attended by his loving wife Gloria. Born on April 28, 1937 and raised in Quincy, Mass. Bill was the son of Joseph and Margaret (Claire) Griffin, and the brother Joseph, Mary, Paul, Claire, Harry, Raymond, James, and Eugene Griffin. All will now be joined together in eternal rest. Bill leaves behind his children Christopher, Deborah, James and his partner Nancy, Judith, Marianne and her husband Douglas, Janette and the late Glenn Andrew Mehrman, Sean and his wife Laurie, and Erin. He leaves his first wife; Anne Dowling (McDermott) Griffin. Proud step-father of Gloria’s children: Kim, Randy, Chris, Aaron, and Cole. Bill leaves behind 31 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and in-laws. Bill was also a caring part of Joan, Mark, Marsha and Joan Marie’s life. Past President of the Duxbury Police Union, Member of the American Legion in Duxbury and in Hudson/Port Richie. Bill was a Naval Air reservist, an avid swimmer, reader and a New England sports fan. Bill cherished his time spent with friends, co-workers at the Duxbury Art Complex, and with fellow police officer’s. His fondest memories were of Wollaston, Duxbury, Nantasket Beach, and all of the beaches in Florida. He loved Hawaiian shirts, pink flamingos and going to Saquish to spend time with his buddies and family. He loved celebrating with family and friends on July 4th and Christmas Eve. He enjoyed golfing, baseball and living in Florida. During his retirement he spent most of his time swimming in his backyard pool and traveling. The family will hold a graveside memorial service and a Celebration of Life at a date to be announced. In memory of Patrolman William Burke Griffin, the family wishes that you donate to the Duxbury Police Union’s Annual Fund raising efforts.
