Avery “Ave” W. Lovell, 83, of Melbourne, Fla. died Sept. 1 at William Hospice House in Palm Bay, Fla. with his family by his side. Mr. Lovell was born and raised in Duxbury. He was a U.S. Army Corporal veteran. He owned A.W. Lovell Inc. for over 30 years. As a business owner he was very generous to the town of Duxbury and provided trucks and trailers for many floats in the Duxbury Day parades. He prided himself on donating to various organizations. He loved boating, fishing, traveling, antique tractors and spending time with his family. He retired in 1986 as owner of A.W. Lovell Inc. and moved to Melbourne, Fla. He was the son of the late Grace Lewis Putnam and stepson of the late Howard Putnam. Mr. Lovell leaves his long time companion, Elaine Shepherd of Melbourne, Fla.; his sons, Brian and his wife, Debbie of La Habra, Calif., Timothy and his wife, Janet, of Plymouth, and Steve of Plymouth; his brothers, Stuart of Middletown, Del., Ronald and his wife Rita of Hudson, N.Y.; his sister, Cynthia Ayotte and her husband Al of St. Petersburg, Fla.; five grandchildren; one great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. A private memorial will be held at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
