Vija Berzins, age 69 of Duxbury, died Aug. 31. She was the daughter of the late Arvids and Lucija (Ezitis) Berzins and the sister of the late Ilmars, Ruta, and Janis Berzins. Ms. Berzin was a Duxbury High alumni of 1959 and 52 year employee of Plymouth Registry of Deeds. She leaves her sister Inta Berzins of Duxbury; her nephews, John Berzins and his wife Jackie of Oakland, Cal., William Berzins of Nashua, N.H. and Paul Berzins and his wife Laura of North Andover; and two great-nephews. A funeral service will be held at the Shepherd Funeral Home on Wednesday Sept. 7 at 10 a.m. Burial will be at the Mayflower Cemetery in Duxbury. As a lifelong Red Sox fan, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ms. Berzin’s memory to the Jimmy Fund.
