Donald J. Clifford, 74, of Marstons Mills, Waltham and West Palm Beach, Fla., died on Thursday, Aug. 25, after a long illness with a rare disease, amyloidosis. He was the son of the late Dr. Stewart H. and Ellinor B. Clifford. Mr. Clifford was a graduate of Noble and Greenough School and Harvard College, class of 1959. He was retired from the securities business and later was the proprietor of Party World of Watertown, which he ran with his sons. Mr. Clifford was an avid golfer and tennis player and former member of The Country Club in Brookline, The Duxbury Yacht Club and The Ibis Country Club in Florida. He leaves his wife, Charlene; two sons, Donald and Christopher; a daughter, Tracey; his brothers, Stew and Fred and his late brother, Paul; and four grandchildren, Nathan, Sarah, Abigail and Adam. A memorial service will be held at the First Parish Church, 842 Tremont St., Duxbury, on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception at his family’s home, 33 Water St., Duxbury. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Clifford’s memory may be made to the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Cardiac Amyloidosis Program, (checks should be made payable to: BWH Cardiac Amyloidosis) and send to the Brigham and Women’s Hospital Development Office, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, 116 Huntington Avenue, Boston, MA 02116 or to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, 6th Floor, Brookline, MA 02445. |
