Bella (Valente)Medeiros, 85, died at her home in Plymouth on Saturday, Aug. 6. She was the wife of the late Joseph R. Medeiros. Mrs. Medeiros was a lifelong resident of Plymouth and parishioner of St. Mary’s Church. She was born in 1926 to Antone and Maria (Sousa) Valente. The youngest of five children, she attended Plymouth schools and worked in the area’s woolen mills before moving on to Foxboro Corporation, from which she retired in 1988. In more recent years, Mrs. Medeiros enjoyed water aerobics at Duxbury’s Percy Walker Pool and volunteered regularly at the Duxbury Senior Center. Mrs. Medeiros leaves her son Jack Medeiros and his wife Nancy of Plymouth; her daughter Marie (Medeiros) Van Slyck and her husband Peter of Duxbury; her brother Manuel Valente and his wife Evelyn, of Plymouth; her grandchildren, Michael Medeiros and wife Angela of Lakeland, Fla., Lea (LaCross) Fortkamp and her husband Mark, of New Lenox, Ill., Randall Medeiros and his wife Minh of Kingston, and Corinne Van Slyckof Boston; four great-grandchildren with two more on the way. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Lucy Valente, Mary Almeida and Tennie Almeida and her brothers, John Valente and Anthony “Chippie” Valente. Mrs. Medeiros was buried at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Plymouth. |
