Milan A. Heath, Jr., 71, a resident of Marion since 2000, formerly of
Duxbury, died Jan. 23 at his home in Marion after a brief illness. He
was the husband of Dorothy A. (Hebden) Heath.
Milan A. Heath, Jr., 71, a resident of Marion since 2000, formerly of Duxbury, died Jan. 23 at his home in Marion after a brief illness. He was the husband of Dorothy A. (Hebden) Heath. Born in Cambridge, the son of the late Milan A. & Dorothy (Young) Heath, Mr. Heath graduated from Tabor Academy in 1955 and from Harvard College in 1959. While at Harvard, Mr. Heath participated in ROTC and upon graduation,, was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Reserve and was honorably discharged in 1961 at the rank of First Lieutenant. He was stationed at various locations manning Nike Missile sites as fire control platoon leader and battery executive officer. For over thirty years, Mr. Heath was employed at Massachusetts Casualty Insurance Company of Boston. He was President since 1970 and C.E.O. since 1981. From 1991 to 2000, he was Chairman of Disability Insurance Associates of Boston. Active with many organizations, Mr. Heath served on many boards including: National Assoc. of Health Underwriters, Tabor Academy, Harvard College Alumni Assoc., Jordan Hospital, Plymouth and the S.E. Mass. Regional Hospital Planning Committee. Other memberships include: The Harvard Club, Boston, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston Symphony Orchestra, Fogg Fellows at Harvard University Art Museum, Corner Stone Lodge of Duxbury and the Luncheon Club at the Wamsutta Club in New Bedford. Mr. Heath played football and crew while at Harvard He especially enjoyed traveling and gardening with his wife. He excelled in swimming and participated in several area triathlons. He leaves his wife; three daughters, Melissa R. Heath of Marshfield, Joanna B. Stone and her husband Matt of Canton, CT and Kimberly Y. Heath of Chelmsford; two brothers, Thomas Y. Heath of Easley, SC and Melville F. Heath of Cockeysville, MD; a granddaughter, Katherine Stone of Canton, CT and a grandson, Austin R. Heath of Marshfield. His funeral service will be held on Sat., Feb. 2 at Trinity Church, 206 Clarendon St., Boston at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be private. A memorial service will also be held at St. Gabriel’s Episcopal Church, 124 Front St., Marion on Sat., Feb. 23 at 2:00 p.m. Donations in his memory may be made to: Trinity Church, 206 Clarendon St., Boston, MA 02116; St. Gabriel’s Church Grounds Fund, P.O.
