Mary Louise Vanderhoef Deupree, of Naples, Florida, and Duxbury, Massachusetts, died on Friday, Sept. 17, in her home, surrounded by family. She was born in Greenwich, Connecticut, on Dec. 11, 1924 to the late George W. and Louise B. Vanderhoef. “M.L.,†as she was known to her friends, was an avid gardener, boater, artist, and loved nature and the outdoors. She leaves her daughter, Sarah V. Whittaker, her son, David W. Whittaker (Julia); her stepchildren Janet D. Miller, Margot D. Taylor (Emery), J. Stephen Deupree (Cynthia) and Charles R. Deupree; her grandchildren: Mary B. Whittaker, Anne W. Emson (Thomas), and Kathryn M. Whittaker; ten step-grandchildren, and a niece, Ann Vanderhoef. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Y. Deupree, her brother, Peter B. Vanderhoef, and niece, Louise Warren. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Oct. 3 at 3 p.m. at the Second Congregational Church of Cohasset, Cohasset Common, 43 Highland Avenue, Cohasset, Massachusetts 02025. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent in her memory to the Conservancy of Southwest Florida, 1450 Merrihue Drive, Naples, Florida 34102; or to the ALC Research Fund, Attn: Mike Riley, 274 Roberts Hall, Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, 14853. |
