Carroll Joan Johnson, 79, of Huntsville, Ala. died Nov. 12.  She was the daughter of the late Richard and Hazel Schmidt.  She attended Rochester Institute of Technology and graduated from the University of Florida majoring in russian studies, art and  language.  She served in the U. S. Navy and married Jim Johnson in 1953 at the Post Chapel, USNB, in Norfolk, Va.  Mrs. Johnson worked as a school teacher and with the Huntsville Chamber of Commerce.  She loved traveling and art, having volunteered teaching art during her daughter’s school years.  

Mrs. Johnson leaves her husband, Jim; her daughters, Kellie Kirby and her husband, Marcus of New Market, Ala., and Kristie Kuzy and her husband, Nick of Huntsville, Ala.; her brother-in-law, Herbert Johnson and his wife, Rose of Duxbury; four grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and six nephews.
