Ann M. Fitzgibbons died on Nov. 6 at her home in Duxbury. The daughter of the late Angeleine and Harold Fitzgibbons, she was a graduate of Milton Academy, Bryn Mawr College (AB ’45) and Harvard Graduate School with an MA in Chemistry. She joined her father’s leather businesses in Whitman and helped to build it until her retirement in 1968. A long time resident of Duxbury, Ms. Fitzgibbons had been Massachusetts State Junior Girls golf champion in 1941 and played the game throughout her life. She served as a director of Rockland Trust Company and its parent, Independent Bank Corp, and as a director and secretary of Jordan Hospital in Plymouth. She was a secretary of the Duxbury Yacht Club and an active supporter of many community organizations. She was a member of the Chilton Club in Boston and traveled widely until her health declined. Ms. Fitzgibbons leaves her brothers, Jim of Brookline, Harry of London, England, and the late Ned Fitzgibbons, as well as 11 nieces and nephews. A funeral Mass took place at Holy Family Church in Duxbury. In lieu of flowers, contributions in her name may be made to Cranberry Hospice, 36 Cordage Park Circle, Plymouth, MA 02360. |
