Mary Casey Stohn, 91, of Duxbury, died at home on Monday, July 6, after a short illness.  Mrs. Stohn was the daughter of Julia (Whelan) and Edmund James Casey of Brookline, and the last of her six siblings.

She graduated from the Beaver Country Day School in Chestnut Hill, and served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees at Beaver for many years. She was also a trustee at the South Shore Conservatory, the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, and Parents and Children’s Services. She was Chairman of the Alumni President’s Council of Secondary Schools and was a volunteer at the Parental Stress Line in Boston. She was an accomplished pianist, tennis champion, award-winning swimmer and diver and talented down-hill skier. Although she was dedicated to her family first, she devoted her life to music, education and sports.

She leaves her husband of 68 years, Alexander C. Stohn, Jr, and her four children: Joanna Stohn of Greenwich, Connecticut; Mary Whelan Stohn of Rose Bay, Nova Scotia; Penelope Brouwer of Titusville, New Jersey; and Sara McCracken of Lighthouse Point, Florida; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. She was preceded in death by her son, Alexander C. Stohn, III.

A musical memorial service will be held at the Holy Family Church in Duxbury, Friday, July 31, at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Ellison Center for the Arts, Duxbury, or the Holy Family Church.
