Robert Burgess, of Duxbury, died on July 11, after a long battle with cancer. He was 77 years old. This past year Mr. Burgess taught art at Lasell College and was an art teacher for more than 30 years in the Quincy Public Schools. Prior to teaching, he was the owner of The Burgess Studio, with locations in Quincy and Provincetown. He was a signature member of the New England Watercolor Society and also a member of many local art societies. Mr. Burgess was also a master gardener, and a wine maker. Robert was the loving husband of Audrey-Jane Burgess and father of Robert D. and his wife Terri (Hannon) Burgess of Duxbury, daughters Martha J. Burgess of Brooklyn, NY, and Susan W. Burgess of Weymouth. He was the cherished grandfather of Max B., James W., Halle M., and David A. Burgess and a loving uncle to several nieces, and nephews. Memorial visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, July 15 from 5-9 p.m. at the Shepherd Funeral Home, 216 Main St (Rt. 106) Kingston. A memorial mass will be held at St. Thecla’s Church, 145 Washington St, Pembroke, on Thursday, July 16 at 10 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Duxbury Student Union, P.O.
