Paul Kenneth Arsenian, age 83, of Duxbury, died suddenly on July 6. Mr. Arsenian was born in Providence, RI on March 24, 1926 to the late John Paul Arsenian of Armenia and the late Elizabeth (Chatalian) Arsenian of Yugoslavia. He grew up in Providence, RI and attended Lockwood High of Warwick, RI.

He also attended Brown University and was enlisted into the U.S. Army, where he served from 1944-1946. Mr. Arsenian was honorably discharged as a Private First Class Field Lineman of the 97th Field Artillery Battalion. He received the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, the World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Army Occupation Medal. He returned to Brown University on the GI Bill and graduated in 1950 with an AB in Economics. He then attended Boston University School of Law and graduated in 1957 and received his Bachelor of Law Degree.

He was very active in Duxbury community services and received the Presidential Life Time of Service Award for Volunteerism in 2008. He was also awarded Duxbury Community Volunteer 2009 Civic Contributions “Unsung Hero” Award which was celebrated at a special dinner in Duxbury on April 22, 2009. Among his many accomplishments is the cooking of “thousands” of pancakes for the annual Mothers’ Day breakfast. Mr. Arsenian experienced great enjoyment from the Boston sports teams, particularly the Red Sox and Patriots and to see the two World Series was a “twice in a lifetime” privilege. He also enjoyed the arts and for over 50 years attended the Armenian Night at Pops. He was a respected member of the community and will surely be missed by all.

He was predeceased by his wife Barbara (Duke) Arsenian. He was a loving father to Elizabeth Arsenian of Duxbury and brother to Betty (Arsenian) Adams, of Providence, RI. Among many friends and relatives Paul also leaves behind his female companion Nora Neval of Florham Park, NJ of many years.

Services were at Shepherd’s Funeral Home of Kingston, Sunday July 12, and a church service at the First Parish Unitarian Church of Duxbury on July 13.
