George Millman formerly of Framingham, did on June 21. Born in Boston, he was the son of Harry and Freda (Davidson) Millman and was predeceased by his brother Samuel. He was a resident of Framingham from 1952 to 2006 when he relocated to The Village at Duxbury. Millman was a graduate of Boston English High School and received his civil engineering degree from Northeastern University in 1951. He served as a sergeant with the 672 Field Artillery Battalion in the European Theater in World War II during the Ruhr campaign. He was licensed in Massachusetts as a professional civil engineer and founded his consulting firm, Construction Engineering, in 1971 after being employed by several general contractors and engineering firms in the local area. He was the general contractor’s construction manager for the Framingham News’ first new plant and the owner’s representative for the original construction of the MetroWest Daily News’ present facility. Millman was also a panelist for the American Arbitration Association and qualified as an expert witness in several district and superior courts in Massachusetts, superior court in Hartford, Conn. and in arbitration. Millman was also a founding member of Temple Beth Am in Framingham where he served on the original building committee and was also the first scoutmaster of the Boy Scout troop sponsored by the temple. Millman leaves four children, F. Joshua Millman and wife Deborah Abel-Millman of Penn.; Joel and wife Daša of Ore.; Jennifer Stockmeier and husband Wolfgang of New York; Julia Austin and husband Brian of Duxbury; as well as eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at the Stanetsky Memorial Chapel, 475 Washington Street, in Canton at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, June 24. A memorial observance will be held at the home of Julia and Brian Austin from 10 a.m.–9 p.m. on Thursday evening, June 25. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice. |
