Rose (Mazmanian) Tufankjian of Duxbury, formerly of Whitman, wife of
the late Charles G. Tufankjian, Sr., died Oct. 11. She was 85.
Rose (Mazmanian) Tufankjian of Duxbury, formerly of Whitman, wife of the late Charles G. Tufankjian, Sr., died Oct. 11. She was 85. Born in Boston, Mrs. Tufankjian graduated from Arlington High School and Burdett College. She belonged to the Whitman Women’s Club, the Chi Kappa’s of the Whitman Congregational Church, and Masque and Triangle of Whitman. She was the retired co-founder of Bridgewater Oldsmobile. She and her late husband founded Tufankjian Stables, where several award winning thoroughbred race horses were trained and raced throughout the United States. She enjoyed traveling, spending winters in Florida and time with her family and friends. Mrs. Tufankjian leaves three sons and their wives, Charles and Cheryl Tufankjian of Duxbury, Atty. Allan and Betty Tufankjian of Scituate, and Ronald and Coralie Tufankjian of Plymouth. She also leaves five grandchildren, Gregory and Ellen Tufankjian of Wellesley, David and Evelena Tufankjian of Duxbury, Rosemary and Edward Flaherty of Duxbury, Elizabeth-Rose Tufankjian and Adam Tufankjian both of New York; seven great grandchildren, Calista, Matthew, Sophia, Michael, Ani, David Jr., and Charles. She also leaves two brothers, Haig Mazmanian and Ara Mazmanian. She was a mentor and friend to all she met and will be dearly missed. A memorial service was held Oct. 16 in Pilgrim Church of Duxbury.
