Besides her husband, she leaves her children, Franklin Sherman Hoyt, and Alice Hoyt Hall, of Duxbury, and Marian Hoyt Morgan of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. She celebrated her 100th birthday in June of 2006.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 27, at 2:00 p.m. in the Pilgrim Church, 404 Washington St., Duxbury. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Duxbury Rural and Historical Society or to the Duxbury Bay Maritime School.

During World War II, Mrs. Hoyt served on the Red Cross and was an Air Raid Warden in Auburndale. She was an active member at The Second Church of Newton.

Mrs. Hoyt sailed weekly in the 15-footer Class with the Duxbury Yacht Club, rain or shine, with her father and brother, Frederick T. Potter, from the time she was nine years old until she was fifteen. She was crew for Harriet Ellison Rogers when she was runner-up in the Massachusetts Women's Championship in 1925. She was an enthusiastic supporter of junior sailing in Duxbury.

Among the happiest days of her life were those serving on the Ladies Committee, Class of 1970, at the Museum of Fine Arts.  She worked as tour guide and flower arranger. When she had completed her four-year commitment, she worked for five years on the early archives of the Museum of Fine Arts until they were computerized. She was also active in local garden clubs.

Mrs. Hoyt was instrumental in establishing the Potter Museum at the King Caesar House of the Duxbury Rural and Historical Society in 1980 and helped acquire the Nathanial Winsor House for the Society.
